Celebrating business Since 1972.
1966 Fender  Candy Apple Red Jaguar
Page 5
More Guitars
This guitar and case are available. Fender first produced the Jaguar in 1962, and it remained the same format for years. Often played for the "surf sound" by the Beach Boys, Jan & Dean and others, it was the go-to "axe" for many musicians. It had a 24" scale, and 22 fret neck, along with numerous switches to modify the sound/tone that the narrow neck and bridge pickup provided. A built in mute allowed for tones that the Ventures made famous, along with a bridge that allowed individual string/intonation adjustment.

The Candy Apple Red shown, and other custom colors were an $18.00 extra back then, and the guitar sold for around $386.00 and the case would cost an additional $52.50. That was a great deal of money back then. The item shown is a one owner guitar, bought at 8th Street Music in Philadelphia in 1966, and is Serial Number 172841.

All original, but years ago, the stock screws from the pickguard and plates were pulled, and replaced with same size, only stainless. The originals were rusty from sweat, and they were saved and still available for replacement if needed. Bone stock ....other than the mute foam crumbled years ago. A piece of self adhesive weather stripping, and it is good to go.   Greg
